About

Eric Jay Gonzales, M.D., is a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Dell Children’s Medical Center, serving patients and families through the inpatient consultation-liaison mental health team. Additionally, Gonzales provides outpatient psychiatric services through Bluebonnet Trails Community Service.

Gonzales’ clinical interests and area of expertise include neurodevelopmental disorders and disruptive behavior disorders with a focus on early and multimodal interventions, as well as culturally-competent medical care for medically underserved populations. He maintains professional memberships with the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Gonzales is a native Austinite and completed his undergraduate education at Emory University, obtaining dual degrees in physics and biology. He attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and three years of general psychiatry residency at Louisiana State University – Our Lady of the Lake in Baton Rouge. During his final year of residency he served as chief resident of his program. Following residency, he completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry with Dell Medical School.
