Providing Comprehensive Training in Dermatologic Medicine
Welcome to the Dermatology Residency at Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin. The residency program was founded in 2008 and has steadily grown to where it is today. Consistent with the broader mission of Dell Med, the program aims to enhance the dermatologic care of residents of Central Texas and beyond through improved access to care, cutting-edge medical and surgical treatments, a robust research program and education for the surrounding medical community.
The mission of the Dermatology Residency is to:
- Recruit talented, hard-working, positive, ethical and team-oriented applicants from varied backgrounds.
- Provide outstanding, comprehensive dermatologic education resulting in proficiency in all aspects of general dermatology.
- Equip trainees to meet the dynamic health care needs of diverse communities, present and future.
- Cultivate the humility, tool set and passion for lifelong learning and improvement.
- Produce future leaders.
The program works to provide second-to-none, broad-based training, networking and resources that equip residents to successfully transition into fellowship positions, academic roles or leaders in community practices.
Residents are the heart and soul of the Division of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, which aims to foster a friendly, collegial environment and believes learning is maximized when people enjoy
their co-workers and workplace.
Residents and faculty work hard providing dermatologic care to the local community, including people who have been historically underserved. Dermatology residents are also engaged in research and meaningful quality improvement projects. In addition to the regular didactic curriculum, the program includes a professional development and leadership curriculum as well as a wellness series.
